Many years ago, when I was pregnant with my first child, I had no particular desire to have a natural birth. My main goal was to experience as little pain as possible, and I thought my only option was an epidural. By chance, I stumbled upon the idea of using hypnosis for childbirth, and I figured if there were a possibility I could experience a pain-free birth without getting a needle in my back, it was worth a shot.
My husband and I took a Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis class, had a good time, learned a lot, and practiced diligently. When my birthing time arrived, we used our hypnosis techniques and experienced an amazing, pleasurable, fast, easy, and pain-free birth.
Our son's birth was extremely empowering for me and kindled my passion for natural birth and safer alternatives for women and babies. After going on to have two more Hypnobabies births (also fast, easy, painless, and joyful), I decided to become a Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Instructor and doula so I can help other women achieve the births of their dreams.
Another passion of mine is keeping children safe once they've made their way into the world. Car crashes are one of the greatest dangers we face, but we can all improve our children's safety by properly using appropriate child restraints. In an effort to keep my child as safe as possible, I became a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician in 2007. Since then, I have helped hundreds of parents keep their children safe in the car. I am active with McHenry County SafeKids, and I am a writer for CarseatBlog.com.
